(To the group in the context of Chas talking about not wanting a career, and Anita saying she never had one.)
“I guess you could describe what I do as a career, but I would never think of it in terms of a career. Career is an old concept and old paradigm. It’s a particular kind of old business model, in which you have to fit into a certain structure that someone or some group has set up. And there’s a certain progression of how you advance in it. You do certain things, which enable you to progress to the next level. And you have to squeeze yourself into this structure, whether you fit into it or not. You can’t just be yourself or express yourself. You can’t do what your inner guidance is telling you to do. You can’t do what’s really true for you, because that’s not a career path. A career path is a human construct — as opposed to a co-creation with something larger, a following of what is really true, a following of what your real purpose is, or however you would describe it.”
(To Chas) “So the whole concept of career, you obviously don’t relate to; and you don’t necessarily have to relate to it. And that doesn’t mean you can’t be connected to what your real value is, what you’re really here to do, make a big contribution and do something that you are successful in, including earning a lot of money.”
(To the group) “Each person here is to some degree or other connected to their life’s passion, what they’re really meant to do. Either they’re doing it or they really want to be doing it, or they’re feeling the repercussions of not doing it.”
